Fleeting glances.

Warm nights spent in search of friendly patios, enjoying cold boozy beverages with friends, days spent working and watching the city adjust to spring. Along the way, somehow finding time to snap photos, steal onto a pier in the dead of night (and somehow not get arrested in the process), check out a hip-hop show, bartend another Jigsaw party or three, line up some lighting and sound gigs... And then there's the fun moments, like when a wino stumbles into work and passes out on the floor (after serenading me with a verse of "Careless Whisper"), waking just long enough to ask me to cap his vodka bottle and give me the phone number for the police. ("No man... Call the cops. They'll get me out of here.") Springtime in New York. Endlessly amazing. -PAR

Status report.

Recovering from the trip to Charlottesville and madness of the travel down and back. A madcap couple days of going home, bookended my minor eternities of waiting in airports while flights were delayed and shuffled about. It was much fun. Running around to put together a lighting rig for a benefit fashion show at Fry's Springs Beach Club, this insane old building that was built in 1920 or so. Which, unfortunately, meant that we blew lots of fuses while attempting to get some light in the room. Still, it could have gone far worse. (We somehow managed to avoind burning the building to the ground...) Somehow also found time to catch up with some of my friends. Went drinking with Sean Thomas, got to take Bill a birthday present and then sit around watching Homestar , had a good chat with Tony , hit up the C&O a couple nights in a row. And of course, spent a morning on the patio at Mudhouse drinking some of the world's best coffee. Missed quite a few people, but hopefu...

Springtime sets in.

It's been a week of pushing myself and sleeplessness. Rock shows, going clubbing, running about with people. Absorbing music and all the available input. On Thursday I'm flying down to Charlottesville for two days. Borrowing a bunch of lighting equipment from a few places, setting it up, running a fashion show (?), then breaking it all back down and back to NYC in time for work on Saturday... This is looking to be a fun spring. -PAR
